I began with the clear bottles which I feel helped me with the values. Painting the reflections was fun, especially in the white wine bottles with the cool and warm grays.

My art instructor, Angela Gage, http://artbyangelagage.com, of the plein air course I'm taking, introduced me to Zentangle art. I was intrigued with her story about finding a card in New Orleans while walking with her daughter in a cemetery. The card had a quote inside about kindness with some Zentangle art and on the back it said "you have found an artistic piece of human kindness...enjoy! The Tangled Kindness Project". http://tangledkindnessproject.blogspot.com
Fred and I are taking a road trip this fall to California, and I thought it would be fun to participate in this project and make and leave cards along our journey. So I now have a purpose to learn this method of art. Pictured is my first card to take and leave on my journey.

Thanks to all for saving their wine bottles for me, not that I don't have a few myself... :). Love that glass of wine every evening.
This series of painting wine bottles is great for my color mixing, value study and composition decisions. I began much looser with this one and then tightened up as I added the details. As far as drawing, getting the wine bottle correctly drawn was the most challenging. When I tried this a year ago, I ended up with what looked like beer bottles.

8x10 oil on canvas panel
This is my first plein air landscape painting and I really enjoyed the experience. Definitely different from working at home in my studio. I laid in the big shapes and most values and finished it at home. I wasn't going to finish at home and wait until the next week of class, BUT. I couldn't help myself. Had to finish...
The changing light was the most challenging, but I took a good photo with my iPad. Some shadows are different from the photo because I liked them better near the end of the painting session.
I am taking a workshop with Angela Gage. The workshop is through the Delaware Arts Castle summer classes. Wonderful instructor and artist!
